Accounting Bookkeeper
NOTE: This is not a remote/telework job. This job requires the selected applicant to be eligible for a government clearance and must be a U.S. citizen.
The Bookkeeper/Accounting Professional will manage daily financial records, reconcile bank statements, processes payroll, handle accounts payable/receivable, invoicing and prepare monthly financial reports (income statements, balance sheets) using Unanet Accounting System. They will ensure accuracy in financial data, compliance with tax regulations, and assist management in tracking budgets. The Bookkeeper/Accounting Professional will also monitor the progress of active projects to ensure that financial performance and reporting are within the confines of set deadlines and budget limitations and generate progress reports for managers.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure financial data is entered into Unanet correctly and accurately.
- Generate accounting and audit reports for accounts payable and receivable, expenditures, and profits and losses.
- Reconcile bank accounts, verify deposits, and address inquiries from bank.
- Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to appropriate accounts.
- Perform journal entries and maintain general ledger.
- Generate customer invoices and submit for payment. Monitor accounts receivable aging and manage accounts receivable collections.
- Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts and perform end of month closeout within Unanet.
- Provide CPA and outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform audits.
- Research and develop labor cost estimates and assist in proposal pricing development.
- Audit and process employee expense reports within established regulations and company policy.
- Display strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and written/oral communication skills.
- Communicate effectively with company executives and employees, in writing and verbally; must be comfortable speaking clearly, effectively, and confidently.
- Detail-oriented self-starter who can consistently meet deadlines and work independently as needed.
- Understand generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and working in the government contractor industry.
- Able to multi-task and have the demonstrated ability to work with a diverse work group of program managers, subcontractors, consultants, and other professionals.
- Demonstrated creative-problem solving and conflict resolution abilities.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or business management (desired). Substantial work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in government contractor accounting/bookkeeping.
- Unanet, Deltek, or CostPoint experience required.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office 365 products; SharePoint, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Must pass a drug test.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Must have a be eligible for a U.S. Government-issued security clearance.
